New features

Requests

This is a quick reminder of our new Traffic Suite module, Requests. Those using Requests can capture recommendations from the public for parking and kerbside infrastructure. Within the back-office view, you’re able to view, manage and action these suggested locations.

Initially launched with functionality to capture demand for electric vehicle charge points, suggestions from the public and local businesses can be taken for any parking or kerbside infrastructure. Capturing location requests for cycle hangars and disabled bays on a map can reduce your internal processing time.

If you’re interested in adopting the Requests module or would like to explore other requests that you could capture, please email sales@appyway.com.

You told us… we listened!

We recently received feedback for the following improvements. We encourage our customers to raise such requests and work closely with us to ensure each request meets their needs.
  • Confirm editing button

It was noted that it previously was not clear how to finish editing a feature. As such, we’ve now added a ‘Confirm edits’ button. This appears when using the ‘Edit’ or Transform’ tools.

Moving Order Improvements

  • Improvements to CSV exports:

We were told the Mapper CSV exports were not particularly user-friendly and did not contain all the necessary attribute information. We’ve therefore updated their format, so all attribute information is visible and displayed in plain English. We’re now looking into how we can add similar changes to the geoJSON export.

We’ve also updated the CSV export within the Engagement module to include the contact details for individuals submitting feedback against a scheme. This makes it much easier to contact all responders via mail-merges, helping to keep them informed throughout the traffic order process.

Clearway restrictions

  • Public holiday operating hours

We’ve now released functionality to specify public holiday operating hours for all features. The following video explains how to add these.

New restrictions, exemptions and drawing tools:

We’ve recently released the following new restrictions, exemptions and drawing tool to Mapper:

New restrictions:
  • E-scooter bay
  • Parklet
  • Advisory disabled bay
  • Advisory school keep clear lines
  • Specific cycle rack and cycle hangar bay types

New exemptions:
  • Library van
  • Taxi

New drawing tools:
  • No waiting on the verge / no waiting on the footway
  • No stopping on the verge / no stopping on the footway

Both are freehand line tools and work in exactly the same way as clearways.

Other improvements:

  • Moving order history tool

You’re now able to view what restrictions were on a specific date for moving orders using the history tool. Simply click on the history tool and select a date in the past. You’ll then be able to see how restrictions appeared on street for your chosen date and download associated order documentation. This tool provides for cases where restrictions have changed recently.

This functionality is available for both full license and read-only license users.

  • Toolbar redesign

In order to future-proof Mapper, ensuring there is space to introduce new drawing tools, we’ve updated its design to include collapsable menus. We’ve also grouped tools together logically (i.e. all selection tools) and split out the bay/line drawing tools into their own sections.

Events:

Thank you to all those who attended our first AppyWay user group session on the 5th of October and our second London council working group session on the 12th of October. Both sessions really helped us gain a better understanding of our users need’s. If you have any feedback regarding the sessions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We’ll update you shortly with any further events.

User research:

We’re currently looking for research participants to talk us through your authority’s process of taking suspension requests for skips and scaffolding. Our goal is to understand whether the Traffic Suite could incorporate functionality to manage these actions.

Furthermore, we’re always looking for users to review designs and scope out new feature ideas. To get involved, please respond to this email.

If you have any questions, just hit reply and I’ll get back to you right away.

Kind Regards,

Samuel Kinrade,
